A tree for peace: Green Festival San Marino – Montefeltro protagonist in Pesaro Capital of Culture

Last Saturday for Pesaro, Italian Capital of Culture 2024, the Green Festival San Marino – Montefeltro was on stage with the conference: “Pesaro and Rafah: a twinning that questions itself”, a series of interventions that had their peak in the connection with Rafah , Palestine.

As reported in a press release, the event was organized in collaboration with Maria Rosa Conti, Councilor for the Environment of the Municipality of Pesaro, assisted by Grazia Francescato, environmentalist leader and Daniela Pagnini, coordinator of the events.

“We decided to work on the twinning that has existed for over 20 years between Pesaro and Rafah – says Gabriele Geminiani who is the creator of the festival and the ‘Gardens for Peace’ – thinking about the urgency of bringing the genocide taking place in Palestine to the attention of the media and citizens as much as possible. I must thank our mediators from EducAid, a Rimini-based NGO committed to guaranteeing assistance and basic necessities in Gaza to the most vulnerable sections of the population, who allowed us to connect with one of their coordinators active in the field”.

The statement adds: “An olive tree was shown from Rafah which, as soon as possible, will provide a cutting to be planted in the ‘Gardens for Peace’, gardens which will be inaugurated next autumn in Pesaro at the Floristic Research Center of the Marche, belonging to the Province of Pesaro – Urbino .

Creating relationships in the area and beyond has been one of the prerogatives of the Green San Marino – Festival Montefeltro since its inception, and so it was on this occasion. “Without peace and without social justice it is impossible to think of starting any path aimed at defending the environment and fighting climate change” concludes Geminiani referring to the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development which includes them among the 17 objectives to be pursued .

Significant were the subsequent interventions by Annarosa Buttarelli – philosopher, at UNI Verona and UNI Cattolica of Milan entitled “With the heart in reality or at a higher level” and by Donatella Albini – gynecologist of the healthcare network for Mediterranean Gaza Saving Humanscon entitled “Words and gestures that heal”. All under the impeccable moderation of Grazia Francescato, who did not skimp on interventions and quotes of great depth.

The artist Thea Crudi, mantra singer, writer and yogini, was entrusted with the final moment of the morning with a musical performance that made the atmosphere vibrant with spirituality, a truly thrilling end”.
