Official ceremony this morning in Piazza Duomo in Trento for the 78th anniversary of the foundation of the Italian Republic. Many politicians were present, together with many association workers.
However, few citizens were present, demonstrating the little interest this anniversary arouses every year among “normal” people
The values expressed by the Constitution and embodied by the different expressions of the state were at the center of the ceremony, preceded by the performance of the City of Trento Band which accompanied even the most solemn moments of the morning.

The president of the also placed emphasis on the values of peace, solidarity and attention to the most fragile Autonomous Province of Trento Maurizio Fugattiwho spoke in Piazza Duomo.
After saying hello to the new one Government Commissioner Giuseppe Petronzithe president underlined the importance of a common effort to put an end to the conflicts that mark the international scene today and which also cause numerous victims among civilians, especially children and the elderly.
It is important to recall, he stated, the fundamental principles of ourto the anti-fascist Constitution, which excludes the use of war as a tool for resolving disputes.
The importance of the active participation of every citizen, especially young people, was also highlighted to public lifeexercising rights responsibly and contributing to the solution of common problems.
In the words of the President of the Province also the value of the unity of institutions beyond legitimate and healthy differences, so that the common will prevails over distinctions and partisan positions.
Finally, gratitude was expressed towards the Head of State and all those who wore a uniform in the square today engaged in security, public order and civil protection, and towards the representatives of fighting, military and remembrance associations for their solidarity, their commitment and their spirit of sacrifice.
During the ceremony, which saw the flag being raised on the Civic TowerGovernment Commissioner Petronzi read the Message of President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to the Prefects and presented the honors of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
Also present were the mayor of Trento and representatives of the Armed Forces. Also present were numerous authorities from the institutions, associations, volunteers and the entire Trentino community.
