The weekend ends with thunderstorms, weather warnings until midnight

A touch of bad weather to end a weekend of heat and sun. It will happen on Sunday evening, when a fast disturbance will cross our territory. This is predicted by the Civil Protection of the Lombardy Region, which has issued an alert for the next few hours.

“In the second part of today, June 2nd, conditions of instability are expected in the region, determined by the transit of a trough with associated colder air at high altitude – we read in the document -. Precipitation is expected from the early afternoon hours in the pre-Alpine area and the Apennines, before extending and intensifying in the mid-afternoon also in the plains. The phenomena are expected to progressively attenuate in the late evening. In all sectors the rains may become thunderstorms, but with a low probability of strong intensity phenomena, although locally, accumulations of between 20 and 40 millimeters may occur, especially on the plains. Generally weak ventilation is expected, locally strengthening in conjunction with the most intense storm events”.

The first week of June will always open with instability. “For tomorrow 3 June – we read again – scattered showers and thunderstorms will still be possible during the night, with greater probability on the central-eastern lowland belt. In the morning, gradual attenuation of convective phenomena while during the afternoon, activation of new storm nuclei located mainly in the central-eastern pre-Alpine mountains. Generally weak ventilation is expected in the plains, while in the mountains strengthening winds from the north on the border reliefs of Valchiavenna”.

With this scenario, a yellow level alert – ordinary criticality – was issued for the area of the so-called hydraulic node of Milan which also includes the lower Varese and the Alto Milanese areas. The alert started at 2pm and will continue until midnight.
