16 railway stations between Abruzzo, Lazio and Umbria were involved

(PressMoliLaz) 02 Jun 24 There are 16 stations of the Italian Railway Network – between Abruzzo, Lazio and Umbria – involved in the “La Ferrovia del Central Italia” project, of which the lead company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Group is a partner alongside the Riattivati Youth Cultural Association.

The initiative in turn falls within the scope of the “Places of the Heart” campaign, launched in 2003 by FAI – Italian Environment Fund ETS and promoted in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo to raise awareness of the value of Italy’s cultural and landscape heritage. “The Central Italian Railway”, specifically, aims to boost tourism in the villages, which in some cases are little-known, along the Terni – Rieti – L’Aquila – Sulmona route, which covers a distance of 163.6 kilometres.

Information panels will be installed in 16 railway stations, with details on the history, culture and peculiarities of the area, enriched by interactive QR codes that offer further information. The route aims not only to preserve cultural and natural heritage, but also to generate a positive impact on the local economy. The project started today, Saturday 1st June, with the unveiling of the first panels in the Rieti and L’Aquila stations.

The events will be repeated in the coming months in the stations of Sulmona, Terni, Antrodoco Centro, Marmore, Pratola Peligna, Antrodoco-Borgo Velino, Raiano, Castel Sant’Angelo, Molina, Cittaducale, San Demetrio ne’ Vestini, Contigliano, Paganica and Greccio.

«By working together for the relaunch and valorisation of the Central Italian Railway – declared Gianfranco Pignatone, Director of Institutional Affairs and Sustainability of the Italian Railway Network – we not only offer the territory more sustainable mobility, but we undertake a long-term commitment to the valorization of an interregional area that stands out for its history and beauty”.
