“Left-wing extremists? No simply the only centre-left left, given that others have also broken away having a different vision from ours”. The Progressive mayoral candidate for Fano 2050 Stefano Marchigiani dotted the ‘i’s at the beginning of the presentation of the list of candidates of the PSI, a team that is part of his “alliance cemented on the programme”.

Students, workers and pensioners: the composition of the list assembled largely by Tiziano Busca, local secretary of the party and candidate for the European elections with the ‘United States of Europe’, is heterogeneous and varied. Together with him, on Friday afternoon in Piazza XX Settembre in the pouring rain, were also the national secretary Bobo Craxi, the regional secretary Boris Rapa and the provincial secretary Riccardo Pozzi. “We move forward to win – said Busca -, in this city which has always been characterized by a socialist spirit”. Busca then highlighted the presence of many young people who have chosen to return to politics in a sleepy city.”

From social to cultural, from help to families in difficulty to innovation and the promotion of better qualified jobs: these are some of the points touched on by the candidates, who spoke one by one. Everyone has made it clear that they want to make their own contribution based on their own peculiarities, especially professional ones, as if they wanted to make the most of their career path by enriching the political one of a group that also includes the former mayor of Mondolfo Gaetano Vergari among its ranks . Together with him also Busca himself, Mattia De Benedittis, Ibrahim Allaoui, Gabriella Baldini, Alex Bini, Paolo Caporelli, Ivana De Benedictis, Daniele Di Tota, Andrea Gabrielli, Cinzia Gaspari, Patrizia Longano, Simona Marinsalta, Fernando Maruccia, Francesco Piersanti, Gianluca Pucci, Ferruccio Rondina, Milva Rulli, Maurizio Scalera, Francesca Secchiaroli, Martina Serfilippi, Tiziano Sorrentino and Susanna Testa.

Among the interventions there was also a mention of the centenary of the speech of Giacomo Matteotti, who Bobo Craxi defined as “the first martyr of Italian politics”. He too was pleased by the presence of several young people and urged them to “take the anxieties and hopes” of this country to heart. Craxi then underlined that “we cannot afford divisions in this particular moment, in which we have rediscovered ourselves vulnerable in the face of other powers”. Hence the invitation to vote, for an election considered decisive for the fate of the continent ten or twenty years from now. “We are a minority – he said again – but we always know which side of history we must be on. This red carnation – he concluded, holding one – is not a symbol of nostalgia, but a feeling. There has been a sentimental disconnection between the country and our party, but sometimes great loves return.”
