Benevento, hired killers to kill the man who had raped his daughter: trial requested

Benevento. A revenge consummated after 11 years: she had the man who had raped her daughter killed. The girl had committed suicide out of pain.

A 64-year-old man, Lucio Iorillo, a former worker of the Taburno Mountain Community, has been accused of organizing the murder of Giuseppe Matarazzo, the pastor who raped his 15-year-old daughter in 2007. The girl, unable to bear the trauma she had suffered, took her own life a few months after the abuse.

According to the prosecution, Iorillo hatched his revenge plan for over ten years, paying two killers 20,000 euros to eliminate Matarazzo.

The pastor, who was released from prison about a month ago after serving his sentence for the rape, was shot dead on July 19, 2018 in front of his home.

The two alleged killers, Giuseppe Massaro and Generoso Nasta, had already been sentenced to life imprisonment in first instance by the Court of Assizes of Benevento in 2021. However, the Cassation annulled the sentence by ordering a new appeal process.

The Court of Cassation overturned the conviction of the two killers

Iorillo, who declares his innocence, will appear before the Gup of the Court of Benevento on November 27th for the preliminary hearing.

In 2018, Giuseppe Matarazzo’s sister promoted an initiative complete with a funeral poster with a photo of her brother in which she claimed her relative’s innocence regarding the rape of the girl for which he had been in prison for over 10 years and then killed shortly after leaving.
