Fiumicino, stop fast connections with the Leonardo Express on this date

The “Leonardo Express” fast rail connection service that allows travelers to reach Fiumicino international airport from Termini Station will be suspended for a few hours in the time slot between 9.00 am and 2.00 pm next Thursday 5 June.

The temporary interruption of the Leonardo Express is necessary to carry out some maintenance work on the line

The interruption of the transport service will also affect some lines of the FL5 which connects Rome to the Tyrrhenian towns located on the northern coast of the Lazio region and primarily Civitavecchia, and is necessary to allow the execution of scheduled maintenance work from the Italian Railway Network (RFI) in the Roma Tuscolana station

Some FL5 trains will have their “terminus” at the Roma Ostiense station. The “Leonardo Express”, however, will be replaced with a bus service departing every 30 minutes from Termini Station. The shuttles will stop at the Cotral stop in via Giolitti 32 and, from Fiumicino airport at the Cotral stop in Terminal 1 of arrivals.

The reduction in service on the route connecting with the Tyrrhenian towns is thus in addition to the limitations imposed on road traffic in Civitavecchia this weekend.

With ordinance number 305/2024 the Municipality of the Tyrrhenian town has in fact arranged the ban on parking with removal for all categories of vehicles on Viale della Vittoria, from 5.00 pm today, Saturday 1st June, to 8.00 am tomorrow, Sunday 2nd June (read here).

This last measure originates from the need to allocate all parking areas normally reserved for private vehicles, to the shuttle buses that will replace the train trips canceled due to the opening of the construction site on the railway line.

The terminus of the vehicles that will be used for the replacement service will be positioned in the central parking lots with entrance from via Stegher.

The aim of the measures is to find suitable spaces for temporary stops that will allow passengers to get on and off the buses in a place adjacent to the Piazzale Matteuzzi train station.

The interruption of transport service on FL5 has been announced by the Regional Infrastructure and Mobility Directorate of the Lazio Region on Friday 24 May, both to provide for the scheduled interventions on the line between the Tyrrhenian town and Termini station, and to be able to carry out specific maintenance measures in the Pisa Centrale station.
