ROME, JUNE 1. – “The cutting of Turin metro stops is a shame. When I was Mayor we fought to bring the money for the second line and the Conte government financed the work: we did everything to get it started from northern Turin which is an area in serious difficulty and I don’t accept that 3 stops will be cut . When Minister Salvini came to Turin, Cirio and Lo Russo, instead of complimenting him on a useless project like the TAV, should have asked for guarantees on the second metro line. Salvini, next time in Turin bring us the stuff for the subway instead of campaigning.” The Vice President of the 5 Star Movement Chiara Appendino declared in a live broadcast on TikTok from the camper in which she is touring Piedmont in support of Sarah Disabato’s candidacy. The Deputy of the 5 Star Movement Antonino Iaria also intervened in the live broadcast: “The government has put 12 billion for the bridge over the strait and has taken away money for local public transport, not only on the second line of the Turin metro but on other works of tpl. It has shifted the need to make cuts onto local authorities. Turin will lose subway stops and work will be slowed down because the government prefers to waste money on large, useless works with which to campaign instead of using it where it is needed. Cirio and Lo Russo, strike a shot.”
