In Marsala, Ilca 4 podium entirely by the Kaucana sailing club. In the waters in front of the Marsala sailing club, the fourth Ilca zonal test was held in recent days, in which the CVK occupied all three steps of the podium for the Ilca 4 class. With only three tests held out of the six scheduled Damiano Livoti took first place overall, also first among the under 16s, followed by Gianmarco Livoti, second, and Paolo Salvo, third. A result that has been long awaited but has already been in the air for some time. It is no secret, in fact, that the Ilca team is now making itself noticed in local competitions and also in those of a national and international nature. The young athletes, trained by coach Giovanni Magliulo, arrived in Marsala, in fact, with two important competitions behind them, the third stage of the Italia Cup in Marina di Campo, on the Island of Elba, and the first stage of the EurIlca in Punta Ala in the province of Grosseto. In both, the athletes brought home noteworthy results and, in particular, in Punta Ala, Lucrezia Micieli conquered the podium with the second female place, finishing with a well-deserved ninth place overall. Gilda Nasti also reached the podium, first U16 female and twenty-second overall. The other athletes of the Iblean association were also not bad with Paolo Salvo fifteenth, Damiano Livoti twenty-eighth and fifth U16 while Matteo Di Dio placed in the first half of the rankings. Remarkable results also due to the high number of participants from all over Europe.
“I am very satisfied with the work we are doing: 2 women’s medals and 4 athletes in the top 30 positions in a European competition, I would say it is a great satisfaction. We will continue to work for the next events”: these are the words of Giovanni Magliulo who promised great results and the promise was largely and immediately kept with the confirmation of the Marsala podium entirely by CVK. The Kaucana Sailing Club therefore opens the summer season full of energy and great satisfaction with the certainty of having taken the right path to establish Hyblaean sailing both in regional and national and international fields. And while the big events are being prepared with a world championship just around the corner, we continue to work with commitment and determination in the area for the area: in fact, the next events include, in addition to the usual Sailing Day on 8th June, the first social regatta “Faro Vela ”, which will be held tomorrow, Sunday 2 June, in the enchanting waters of Punta Secca. Sunday’s event, in fact, represents an excellent showcase to illustrate and promote the numerous summer courses scheduled. It seems superfluous to remember that the athletes who are now making a name for themselves in competitions, including those of national importance, have all taken their first steps in one of the summer courses organized by the CVK and who from this year are taking on the very renewed Summer Campus formula.
But the CVK has also started numerous and fruitful collaborations with schools not only by promoting the national FIV project called “Sailing at School – The sea arrives in the classroom” which brings sports discipline into school classrooms, but also through multiple agreements both on the Pnrr funds and on the “Summer 2024 Plan” projects. Many initiatives are planned for next summer, which promises to be full of events dedicated to sailing sports. All this is possible thanks to the tireless commitment not only of the direct protagonists, coaches, management and technical staff, but also of all the members who continue to invest and believe in this project.
