Carlo Acutis, the saint and patron of the internet

The canonization of the blessed Carlo Acutis it is a significant event for the Catholic Church, especially for today’s young people.
This young Italian, who passed away at the age of 15 due to leukemia, will now be recognized as a saint, a role model for young people to emulate. His life and legacy provide an inspiring and relatable example for today’s youth who are facing numerous challenges in a highly secularized and fast-paced world.
Carlo Acutis was born on 3 May 1991 in London, to Italian parents. He grew up in a devout Catholic family and was known for his strong faith and love of the Eucharist.
At the age of 7 he received his first Communion and was fascinated by the concept of transubstantiation.
He spent his free time attending daily mass, studying the lives of saints, and building websites to spread messages of faith and devotion.
Charles also had a deep devotion to the Virgin Mary, as he recited the rosary daily and visited Marian shrines.
Despite his young age, Carlo understood the importance of spreading God’s love to others. His passion for technology and computers led him to create a virtual exhibition of Eucharistic miracles from around the world. This project reached millions of people and Carlo’s message of faith and devotion continues to inspire young people today.
What makes Carlo Acutis such an admirable role model for young people is his relatability. He has faced many challenges in his young life, including his battle with leukemia. However, he never lost his faith nor his desire to spread God’s love. This distinguishes him as a real-life example of how one can overcome challenges with faith and perseverance.
Beatified by Pope Francis in 2020 and defined as a “model of sanctity of the digital age”, in fact, Acutis is considered the “patron saint of the Internet”.
“Carlo Acutis will be proclaimed a Saint” is one of the most popular news items on Google, especially among young Catholics.
This is the decision taken by Pope Francis who recognized a miracle attributed to the very young blessed, and who now rests in peace in Assisi, a land dear to the Acutis family and the blessed patron of the Internet.
Carlo’s use of technology as a means to spread his message is especially relevant in today’s digital age.
Young people are strongly influenced by technology, which is often used in a negative way. However, Carlo has demonstrated that technology can also be used as a tool to spread positivity and faith to others.
You can be a modern and technological saint, without losing the objective, which is always Christ.
