Welcome back 1000Miglia: the most beautiful race in the world stops in Lucca for the fourth time

For the fourth time Lucca returns to host the 1000Miglia, known as the most beautiful race in the world: on 12 and 13 June this famous “traveling museum” will give citizens and visitors the opportunity to see up close the models that have marked the history of motoring, with its parade of vintage cars and the classic Ferrari Tribute.

We must be up to the standards of the 1000Miglia: we have been and we will be this year too“- announced the director of Aci Lucca Luca Sangiorgio It’s not just a question of logistics or beauty of the area, even if everyone envies us the circuit of the walls, but there is also the fact that all the local forces come together to ensure that everything goes smoothly“.

The Freccia Rossa then returns to the city during the third leg of the journey, which will take over 400 vintage cars to Rome and then return to Brescia. This year they will follow a unique route compared to previous editions, spread over two days: on Wednesday 12 June, at 6pm, the Ferrari Tribute will arrive, a parade of around 130 modern Prancing Horses that will cross via Sarzanese, via Einaudi, via delle Città Gemelle, viale Luporini and piazzale Boccherini, to then enter the centre, climb the walls and stop in front of the Caffè delle Mura, where they will be presented. At the end of the stop, around 8.30pm, the cars will leave to stop during the crews’ dinner organized at the Real Collegio, on the promenade of the walls near the San Frediano climb. Subsequently, around 40 cars will remain overnight in Piazza Napoleone, while the others will stop at the Hotel Guinigi. The following day, June 13, the Ferraris will leave at 5.30 am towards Rome, traveling along via Marconi, viale Cadorna and via di Tiglio.

But the real peak of the event will begin around 6.30 in the morning on Thursday 13 June: it will be then that the first cars of the 1000Miglia, which arrived in Viareggio the evening before, will begin to parade. The procession will follow the following route: via Sarzanese, via Einaudi, via delle Città Gemelle, viale Luporini, viale Nieri, viale Carducci, via Montanara, via Cavour, porta san Pietro, via Carrara and ascent San Colombano in the direction of the Caffè delle Mura, where it will be presented from 7 to 10.30. The cars will then continue descending from the Santa Maria bastion and will travel along Via Vittorio Emanuele, Piazza Napoleone, Via Beccheria, Piazza San Michele, Via San Paolino, Piazza Cittadella, Via di Poggio, Via Calderia, Piazza San Salvatore, Via Cesare Battisti, Via San Giorgio , via Fillungo, via Michele Rosi, porta san Jacopo, via Marconi, viale Cadorna and via di Tiglio, with expected arrival around 11am.

There will be around 430 historic army cars, plus another sixty electric cars– has explained Luca Ciuccidelegate Aci Lucca- These are very important numbers, to which are added around 150 organization cars, 50 motorbikes and traffic police cars, plus cars with doctors on board: we are talking about more than a thousand cars that will pass through the city. We worked with the administration to eliminate any inconvenience as much as possible: we have reached the end, and I think everything will go smoothly“.

It will certainly be an important showcase for the city, which has been experiencing a golden year for tourism since 2024, as the tourism councilor recalled Remo Santini. “These high quality events help to improve the offer, to ensure that flows remain for several days and that the city becomes a set that attracts tourists of a certain level, avoiding a type of ephemeral tourism– he has declared- Like many others, this initiative also takes place in collaboration with the municipality of Viareggio, a collaboration that we consider successful also from the point of view of an exchange of tourist flows“.

The passage of the 1000Miglia to Lucca is always an emotion that gives prestige to the city, to a motoring tradition that has one of its brightest cities in Lucca“, recalled the sports councilor Fabio Barsanti: it is no coincidence that on the occasion of the stage the Barsanti and Matteucci combustion engine museum, where it all began, will be exceptionally open.

The organization has dedicated particular attention to the valorisation of our local excellences, from the passage in Piazza Cittadella, one of the most representative places of Puccini, to the stop in front of the Caffè delle Mura, a historic meeting point of the city that the new managers have also made available as a location for the press conference to present the event.

Talking about valorising local excellence could not be missing Piero Pacini, himself now an important figure in the city and always attentive to the promotion of the territory: for the occasion, the ice cream maker, owner of Gelati di Piero, honored those present with some bottles of Chianti Classico, but also with an extraordinary painting created by himself on the occasion of the passage of the 1000Miglia. “We always try to do things with maximum pleasure and with the desire to improve ourselves– he has declared- Let’s hope it’s a great 1000Miglia“.

Many elements come together on this festive occasion: Lucca has enormous resources and in moments like these we can condense them, but I think we must try to make the best use of them on a thousand occasions– he concluded Stefano Bortolettowhich will present the race- Not everyone can have so many world-class excellences: this occasion can become a starting point to make the most of the resources that fortunately our city offers us“.
