Opi Latina, Active Nurses wins the appeal to the CCEPS: the 2020 elections are irregular. It’s a shame that the mandate is expiring…

The group Active Nurseswho in 2020 took part in the four-year elections for the renewal of the board of directors of Opi Latina (4 thousand members), won the appeal presented in January 2021 to Central Commission for Health Professions (CCEPS) and based on alleged anomalies in vote counting operations.

The CCEPS itself has therefore established the cancellation of those elections and the Ministry of Health will shortly send an commissioner to oversee the transition process. New elections will be called within 90 days of the appointment of the commissioner to ensure a regular and transparent renewal of the governing bodies of Opi Latina.

“We believe it is essential to have a strong college, committed to facing the current and future challenges of our profession (family nurses)”, says the Active Nurses group. In fact, however, this is a classic Pyrrhic victory, because the CCEPS’s decision comes four years after the elections, i.e. at the end of the mandate. In the last quarter of this year, therefore, the Opi Latina board of directors will be renewed.
