Ragusa – Triumphal closing of the Feast of San Giorgio

A crowd of devotees and faithful greeted the Patron Saint of Ragusa last night.

With the third day of the procession of San Giorgio Martire, the 2024 external celebration comes to an end.

Yesterday afternoon after the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by H.E. Monsignor Giuseppe La Placa, bishop of Ragusa, the Holy Knight embraced the faithful and tourists who had come from all over the world.

At around 7pm the solemn procession started with the simulacrum of San Giorgio and the Holy Ark along the following streets: Mother Church, Piazza Duomo, Via Conte Cabrera, Largo Camerina, Via Orfanatrofio, Via delle Suore, Via Tenente La Rocca, Via Gardens, Piazza GB Odierna, Corso XXV Aprile, Piazza Pola, Corso XXV Aprile, Piazza Duomo, Via Duomo, Via Capitano Bocchieri, Via Ten. Distefano, Via The procession, after a stop in the church for about 30 minutes, left for Piazza Repubblica, Via del Mercato, Via Orfanatrofio, Piazza Pola, Corso XXV Aprile, until reaching its destination, Piazza Duomo.

Before returning to the church, a spectacular artistic play of lights was held: video mapping on the façade of the buildings and the cathedral of San Giorgio.
