Trani, Academy Concerts 2024: tomorrow “Chamber music concert”

At the Auditorium of the former conservatory of San Luigi, the pianist Virginia Benini and the violist Vittorio Benaglia will perform music by Hans Sitt, Sergej Sergeevič Prokofiev and Bèla Bartòk

TRANI – Monday 27 May at 8.00 pm at the Auditorium of the former conservatory of San Luigi di Trani, two young musicians of great caliber will perform with a repertoire of notable emotional impact.

The Hermes Cultural Association concert after concert consolidates the brilliant successes achieved with the 2024 Concert Season. An intense and very important season that gave the public extraordinary emotions with weekly events that took place starting from March.

Tomorrow’s concert will be dedicated to some of the greatest composers of the 20th century. Those of Hans Sitt, Sergej Sergeevič Prokofiev and Bèla Bartòk were lives that spanned two centuries and their music contains the enigma and charm of those times.

Two exceptional musicians will return this enchantment: the pianist Virginia Benini and the violist Vittorio Benaglia.

“Vittorio Benaglia’s interpretation is magnificent, as he knows how to draw unique sound and timbral capabilities from the viola, creating new and magical sounds, almost attributable to the human voice.” These are the words that MUSICA magazine dedicated to the precious talent of Vittorio Benaglia. In fact, the young violist already enjoys an important fame within and beyond the borders of the Peninsula. During his career he has already had the honor of performing in important concert halls such as: the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in New York, the Wiener Saal of the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Madinat Theater in Dubai. Furthermore, he has distinguished himself in numerous national competitions, including the National Arts Award and the Vittorio Andretta Young Talent Award of Padua while, internationally, he won first prize at the IV London International Music Competition, Salzsburg Grand Prize Virtuoso, New York Golden Classical Music Awards. Born in 1999, he studied at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Como and attended the HEMU in Lausanne, the L. Perosi Academy in Biella. He currently studies at the Internationale Musikakademie in Liechtenstein with Thomas Riebl.

Virginia Benini was born in Riva del Garda in 2001 and began playing the piano at the age of eight, under the guidance of prof. Enrico Toccoli, immediately demonstrating great passion and predisposition for the instrument. You have participated in various national and international competitions, always ranking in the top positions and have collected numerous awards in recent years. In 2016 she won the first prize at the IV “Città di Venezia” competition, the first overall prize at the “Città di Scandicci” competition and the “Remo Vinciguerra” competition in Verona and in 2017 she was invited to play at the prestigious headquarters of the Armata Moscow Red Army on the occasion of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution. After obtaining the first level academic diploma with top marks and honors at the FA Bonporti Conservatory of Trento, she continued to perfect her technique by taking part in important masterclasses such as those held by the masters Dmitri Alexeev, Lovro Pogorelich and Mats Widlund. In 2022 she performed with the violist Vittorio Benaglia in the Piazza dei Signori in Vicenza, at the Sala Musa in Como and at the headquarters of the Verdi Choir in Parma. In September 2023 you held a recital as a soloist at the AIARP national conference held at the Palafiemme in Cavalese. She is currently attending the Piano Performance Master’s degree at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano, in the class of Maestro Federico Colli.

The evening of May 27th will therefore be dedicated to music for viola and piano. Vittorio Benaglia and Virginia Benini will give the public moments of rare emotion and great entertainment with the performance of the following songs:
