“Forza Italia will prove decisive both in the European elections and in the local elections in the victory of the centre-right coalition. In Pescara I expect to reach 20%, in Montesilvano the coalition will have to win with at least 70% of the preferences. These are the two phone calls that I expect to receive at the end of the count and we will dedicate our victories to President Berlusconi on the first anniversary of his passing, next June 12th.”
This was said by the group leader in the Senate Maurizio Gasparri during his electoral tour between Pescara and Montesilvano in support of the candidates for the European elections Antonella Ballone and Eliseo Iannini, the mayoral candidates Carlo Masci and Ottavio De Martinis and some candidates for the Forza Italia municipal council. Also present were the president of the regional council Lorenzo Sospiri, provincial coordinator of Forza Italia, and the honorable Nazario Pagano, regional coordinator of the Azzurri.
First stop the Sea River, on the northern riverside, for the electoral event organized by the outgoing group leader of Forza Italia in the Municipality of Pescara Roberto Renzetti, also in the presence of some candidates for the municipal council, namely the doctor Vittoria D’Incecco, Antonina Sciacca, employee of the ASL, Sicilian origins, and the director of the Revenue Agency Enrica Pace. Also present were the outgoing and non-renominated councilor, President of the Environment Commission Ivo Petrelli, the candidates for the European elections Ballone and Iannini, the latter accompanied by the former mayor of L’Aquila Biagio Tempesta.
“The choice of today’s location is excellent – observed President Sospiri – which allows us to see the river area which will be the subject of intervention in the second Masci council, which will have the task of bringing to a conclusion the extraordinary wave of construction sites already underway to change the face of the city. The polls released in the last few hours by the Democratic Party make me smile, I simply note that they come from the same poll house and the same politician who just two months ago, during the regional elections, had attested to a clear advantage for candidate D’Amico over the outgoing Marsilio , arguing that it was necessary to wait for the outcome of the polls just to be able to quantify the extent of that advantage. And we all know how that ended. We are the ones who consistently remained alongside Maurizio Gasparri, even in difficult times, even after the death of President Berlusconi who made us stronger and more united.”
“We are not used to running to participate – added candidate Renzetti – but to win in the first round”. The Honorable Pagano and Mayor Masci recalled how Forza Italia is “historically close to the world of business and production. Now we are working for the redevelopment of the resulting areas, where the most prestigious headquarters of the Region will be built and not the buildings that the left would have wanted. And it will be possible thanks to the same center-right coalition capable of building a Covid hospital in a month.”

We had an intense year, Berlusconi left us on 12 June last year, and Forza Italia, instead of evaporating, demonstrated that Berlusconi left a great political legacy behind him, united widespread feelings, and allowed the centre-right to join. In fact, the alternative to the left did not exist until the 1994 season, which is why Berlusconi was so opposed and was the victim of attacks. The second stage in Montesilvano, in the presence of Paolo Cilli. “In Montesilvano we have to get over 70% in the first round,” Gasparri retorted, then speaking about the relaunch of tourism, hospitality, the railway, and finally the last stop at the Caffè Letterario with the candidates Isabella Del Trecco and Alessio Di Pasquale: “ During the regional elections – Gasparri recalled – Forza Italia came close to 15% in Abruzzo, 17% in Pescara, now we have to reach 20%, in Europe we must be the first to take the pen in hand and rewrite the directives. We want to dedicate the victory of 8 and 9 June to Berlusconi when we will remember him one year after his death on 12 June”.
