Cremona Sera – “We live in Gerre Borghi, a hamlet in the municipality of Cremona, without sewerage and without methane but with the nightmare of a sewage tank of 30 thousand tons per year for biomethane”. The protest is growing

The residents’ protest is growing against the construction of the large biomethane plant and above all against the “new” sewage tank planned for 30 thousand tons per year. This time protesting are citizens residing in the Municipality of Cremona, in the Gerre Borghi hamlet without sewerage and methane but with the nightmare of a “wastewater pipeline” under their house. Here is the letter they sent to Cremona evening predicting more protests.

We are a group of residents of the Gerre Borghi hamlet in the municipality of Cremona.

A few days ago we became aware of A2A’s new project which plans to build a sewage interceptor tank of 30 thousand tons per year with a “wastewater pipeline” connected to the new Biomethane plant.

Our hamlet today does not have sewerage or methane gas, we pay the same taxes as the others and it is subject to the restrictive regulations of the Po and Morbasco Park (defined by the Municipality of Cremona) which imposes on our houses authorization procedures for more complex works than others city neighborhoods.

We have a farm recently established by a social cooperative that promotes the work integration of people with disabilities and last spring our hamlet was photographed by thousands of people because of a beautiful and colorful tulip plantation.

Despite this, a company foreign to us like A2A decides to destroy our territory with an appendix to the already questionable Biomethane plant planned in via San Rocco, next to the incinerator. This will lead to a series of problems especially linked to the traffic of agricultural vehicles which will increase exponentially both towards the SP 50 and towards the Brancere hamlet of Stagno Lombardo.

In this way, albeit in an inconceivable way, the number of families and people affected by this useless industrial plant, disguised as agricultural, is increased, which, at this point, we will also oppose in every way.

We conclude by saying that we would certainly have preferred prior information rather than learning the news after the fact.
