The official status came from the resolution of the regional government council which, in addition to the distribution of funds throughout the island by thematic areas and lines of intervention and the timetable for the individual interventions to be carried out, also contains the agreement for the development and the cohesion between the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Sicily Region. Agreement which will be monitored by a technical committee called upon to carry out the role of guidance and supervision in order to avoid delays and non-compliance.

The lion’s share, in the province of Ragusa, belongs to the archaeological park of Kamarina and Cava Ispica.

The Kamarina and Cava Ispica archaeological park is the recipient of the financing of two important projects for a total of 13 million euros: one concerns the redevelopment, valorisation, consolidation and routes of Chiafura, the troglotid agglomeration that unites the city of Scicli with that of Matera, for 8 million euros pursued for years by the former regional deputy Orazio Ragusa, and one involves the redevelopment and valorisation works of the Kamarina regional archaeological park in the Ragusa area for an amount of 5 million euros. As regards the timetable of both financed projects, the second semester of is the date to be respected to complete the interventions.

The Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Ragusa has “collected” funding for two projects, for a total of 4 million and 800 thousand euros.

One falls on Modica with the restoration and consolidation works of the decorative apparatus of the Cathedral of San Giorgio for an amount of 3 million and 600 thousand euros and one concerns the works for the museum display of the so-called wreck of the Kamarina columns for an amount of 1 million and 150 thousand euros.

A loan recognized to the Municipality of Scicli.

Approximately 9 million euros refer to the anti-seismic consolidation and arrangement project of the former Lipparini school, wanted by the former council of mayor Enzo Giannone who gave input to the technical office to design the works. The school building overlooks Piazza Italia. The intervention, once completed, will redevelop the entire historic center of the city of Scicli by eliminating the “ugliness” of the glass, concrete and iron building which in the 1960s took the place of the former Jesuit convent between Palazzo Scrofani and the Mother Church of Sant’Ignazio. The line of intervention concerns the educational and training structures item and the works must be completed by the second half of 2030. Between this sum of 9 million euros and that of 8 million euros for the Chiafura agglomeration, the Municipality of Scicli has reaped the greatest benefits, a total of 17 million euros, from the 2012-2027 Development and Cohesion Fund.

Funds also for the Municipality of Santa Croce Camerina.

The project relating to the reconstruction works of the beaches of Caucana, Casuzze and Punta Secca was financed under the risk and climate adaptation line, for 3 and a half million euros.

A loan for the Municipality of Ispica.

The project was financed for the sum of 460 thousand euros, the construction of a multifunctional nursery for the Sant’Antonio school complex right in the perimeter of the city of Ispicia.
