Tadej Pogacar won the 2024 Giro d’Italia. The Slovenian champion also attacked on Monte Grappa and achieved the sixth partial success in this Corsa Rosa, winning alone at the finish line in Bassano del Grappa on the occasion of the twentieth stage. The captain of the UAE Emirates also made the very tough Alpine stage his own and put the seal on the pink jersey, which he has been wearing with personality since the second day of the race.

Tadej Pogacar will climb to the top step of the podium and raise the Endless Trophy to the sky: the party is scheduled for late afternoon tomorrow, at the end of the Rome catwalk. The two-time winner of the Tour de France will expand his personal portfolio and will now go after the double with the Grande Boucle, which the late Marco Pantani achieved for the last time in history in 1998. The 25-year-old has left abysmal gaps ahead of his closest pursuers.

In fact, the Colombian Daniel Martinez and the British Geraint Thomas will take the podium, separated by 9’57” and 10’26” respectively. A truly sidereal margin in favor of Tadej Pogacar, who triumphed with an advantage that is now unusual in modern cycling.

Antonio Tiberi has definitely demonstrated that he is a potential talent for the imminent future. The Lazio player held his own on Monte Grappa and also tried to gain ground against Geraint Thomas and Ben O’Connor, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to improve his ranking situation. The standard bearer of Bahrain Victorious has so concluded the Giro d’Italia in fifth place in the general classification.

Filippo Zanna instead suffered a crisis on the first climb to Monte Grappa and dropped out of the top-10: eleventh ahead of Lorenzo Fortunato and Davide Piganzoli. Below is the general classification of the Giro d’Italia 2024 at the end of the twentieth stage. Tomorrow (Sunday 26 May) the last stage of the Corsa Rosa will take place: catwalk in Rome, the group sprint announced and then the party on the podium.
