‘Grandpa Friend’ project at Regina Elena in Carrara: the final event

CARRARA – In the last act of the “GRANDPAPER FRIEND” project at the Regina Elena retirement home in Carrara,
in the presence of councilor Carlo Orlandi representing the municipal administration and the board of directors, the volunteer readers of the Carrara civic library gave life to a particular and engaging event, which saw the participation of the pupils of the third class of the Institute Daughters of Jesus of Carrara led by the teacher Cinzia Diamanti.
The project strongly supported by the municipal administration has included countless meetings over the course of the year between the young students of the Daughters of Jesus Institute of Carrara, the volunteer readers and the elderly guests of the retirement home.
Meetings scheduled and animated by volunteer readers of the civic library have made the generational exchange effective and important, increasing the active participation of young students and elderly people from the retirement home who have become grandparents to love and learn from.
The party animated by the volunteer readers Lia Bedini, Ginetta Pinelli Fiorella Rinaldini Enrica Tirone and Mariella Tofanari, Andrea Carlesi, Pietro Marchini, Feli Giubbi ended with an exchange of gifts between the children and the elderly who were graduated as grandparents in all respects dispensers of stories, memories and above all affection, with the affixing of the Graduation Touch and the recognition of a diploma that each child gave to a grandparent. The elders reciprocated by giving each child a plate decorated by each of them in memory of this journey.
The Regina Elena board of directors appreciates and encourages the openness to the territory pursued through these experiences of exchange and listening which it believes provide and increase the vitality of the guests, while at the same time encouraging the younger generations.
Particular thanks must be given to the animator Stefania Ragionieri, and to the operator Marco Cupini of Regina Elena, who, in harmony with the teacher and the volunteer operators, gave life to this important experience, bringing it to a conclusion in a commendable manner.
The Regina Elena board of directors also hopes for the continuation of these important moments of cultural and generational exchange for the years to come.
