Palazzo dei Leoni, discussion between representatives of the Metropolitan City, Municipality of Messina, Bodies, Associations and UNAR on planning and reorganization of territorial anti-discrimination networks

At the center of attention are the good practices implemented by the Metropolitan City of Messina and the metropolitan municipalities

The meeting with the institutional representatives of UNAR took place this morning at Palazzo dei Leoni for the promotion of equal treatment and the removal of discrimination based on race and ethnic origin.

The meeting was attended by: the Metropolitan Mayor Federico Basile; the General Director Salvo Puccio; the General Secretary Rossana Carrubba; the municipal councilor for equal opportunities, youth policies Liana Cannata; the municipal councilor for social policies Alessandra Calafiore; the President of the Single Guarantee Committee of the Municipality of Messina Laura Strano; the Provincial Councilor for Equality Mariella Crisafulli; the President of Messina Social City Valeria Asquini; the President of the Association of Volunteer Tutors and Guardians MSNA Messina Maria Adelaide Merendino; the Circolo Arci Thomas Sankara, represented by Carmela Maria Cordaro; the Director of CESV Rosario Ceraolo; the President of the Youth Council of Messina Aurora Falcone; Mattia Peradotto and Benedetto Zacchiroli were present for UNAR.

The objective of the discussion was to present the project relating to the reorganization of the territorial anti-discrimination networks and to learn, at the same time, about the interventions and good practices implemented by the Metropolitan City of Messina and the metropolitan municipalities.

“It was a fruitful discussion – stated Metropolitan Mayor Basile – which served to take stock of the territorial reality of anti-discrimination networks and to lay the foundations for strengthening synergies aimed at protecting the rights of all those subjects who are victims of acts of oppression linked to one’s ethnic origins”.
The meeting was organized by the Planning, Performance and Organizational Processes Service, Office for the Promotion of Gender Policies.
