A “musical twinning” event took place yesterday, May 23rd, at the “Carducci” secondary school in Lucca, in the name of maestro Puccini, between the Istituto Comprensivo Lucca Centro Storico and the Istituto Comprensivo Garibaldi/Buccarelli of Vibo Valentia. The twinning was supported by the 2 school directors Dora Pulina (IC Lucca CS) and Angelo Stumpo (IC Garibaldi / Buccarelli of Vibo Valentia) on the proposal of the teachers Antonio De Rito, guitar teacher of the Vibo institute and Prof. Fabio A. Ditto violin teacher at the institute in Lucca historic center. The event began with an exchange of gifts between the institutes and continued with greetings from the school director Dora Pulina and professor Angela Crudo representing the Vibono institute, who wanted to underline the importance of how the “making music” by studying an instrument is fundamental for the global education of young students also because it helps them face difficulties better, increasing their self-esteem. Following the speech of the IP councilor Simona Testaferrata who wanted to thank all the participants and in particular the students of the 2 orchestras. The musical program first saw the performance of the Vibo Valentia institute which performed the Italian national anthem sung by the 2 choirs of the institutes prepared by the teachers Angela Crudo and Alessandra Micheletti. Following the tribute to Puccini, with the choir with their mouths closed, the aria O mio babbino caro and the stars were shining. The orchestra was directed by Prof. Antonio De Rito in collaboration with the other instrument teachers, who accompanied the students on this trip to Lucca, Marianna Scidà (violin), Olimpia Lombardo (piano) and Angel Crudo (Music). Following the performance of the “Carducci” orchestra directed by the violin teacher Fabio Ditto, prepared together with colleagues Marcello Bonacchelli of clarinet, Orietta Luporini of piano and Elisabetta Casapieri and Anna Capasso for the cello, who performed as a tribute to the Lucchese maestro the ariasNessun dorma, Sogno d’or and Musetta’s Waltz. The performance ended with a suite dedicated to maestro Morricone, arranged by prof. Ditto said that at the end of the evening, in saying goodbye, he wanted to thank those who worked hard to make the event a success. The twinning continues in the afternoon of May 25th with a tour of the city walls during which the students of “Carducci” will act as “Cicerone” to their friends from the Vibo school institute.
