Broken traffic light in Gallarate: minor injuries in an accident and safety at risk. Poor maintenance and long repair times infuriate citizens.

An accident that occurred on the night between Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd May at the intersection of via del Lavoro and via Campo dei Fiori in Gallarate has brought to light the age-old issue of road safety in the area. The collision, which involved two cars and caused minor injuries to the three occupants, was caused by the malfunction of the traffic lights that regulate the intersection.

An already known problem

The malfunction of the traffic light had already been reported a few days ago to the Local Police, who had taken steps to monitor the intersection during the peak traffic hours to manually regulate traffic. However, Thursday night’s incident highlights the need for more structural intervention to resolve the problem.

Delays in repairs

The Municipality’s technicians have already carried out inspections to identify the cause of the fault, but its repair could take a considerable time. According to initial hypotheses, a structural intervention on the traffic light system may be necessary, which would lead to further delays.
