Metromare Rimini fair station, expropriations begin on May 25th

The communication of the start of the emergency advance occupation procedure of the real estate necessary for the construction of the second section of the Metromare will be published on Saturday 25 May, the rapid connection currently active from Rimini central station to Riccione and which with its extension will reach the exhibition center .

With the procedure announced, a further concrete step forward is taken towards the opening of the construction sites, formally starting the occupation of the areas subject to expropriation and temporary occupation and which will be affected by the construction of the route of the new connection. The communication follows the notice already notified at the end of February by PMR (implementing body of the work and client of the integrated contract) to the owners of the areas for the determination of the temporary expropriation compensation. The objective is to complete the procedure for taking possession of the areas in the next few weeks, and then start the works in the summer, as per the timetable and in line with the deadlines dictated by the Pnrr which finances the work and which sets the completion of the infrastructure by 30 June 2026.

The start of the construction of a work of strategic value for the strengthening of connections and accessibility towards the northern quadrant of the city is therefore approaching. The second section of the coastal rapid transport will develop along a route of approximately 4.2 km built in a protected area, between the Rimini railway station and the exhibition centre, in continuity with the connection already active between Rimini Fs and Riccione. There are six intermediate stops between the two terminus: Principe Amedeo, San Giuliano, Rivabella, Sacramora, Popilia, Fiera Est-Teodorico. With the completion of the second section, for a total investment of 60 million euros, an overall route from Riccione to Rimini north will be 14 km long, with 23 stops and the possibility of covering the entire route in 31 minutes.

PMR’s integrated contract also includes the design and construction of urban arrangements in the areas of the terminals and intermediate stops, the cycle-pedestrian connections to the stops, the lighting of the runway, the green compensation works and overall all the works necessary for the functional performance of the public transport service.
