Venosa Carabinieri engaged in a night operation in Lavello

LAVELLO (PZ) – On the night of 23 May, the Carabinieri of the Venosa Company were involved in a chase on the SS 93, near Lavello, which led to the recovery of two vehicles stolen in Potenza. The operation is part of the extraordinary territorial control services organized by the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Potenza, aimed at combating crime against property and monitoring the main road arteries of Basilicata.

During the night, a patrol from the Aliquota Radiomobile noticed an Alfa Romeo Stelvio proceeding slowly on the SS 93. Upon seeing the Carabinieri’s vehicle, the car suddenly accelerated, starting a chase along the state road. Despite the efforts of the Carabinieri, the fleeing vehicle turned off its headlights and drove dangerously, forcing the military to interrupt the pursuit to avoid risks to other motorists.

The searches continued throughout the night in the neighboring territories, leading to the discovery of two vans stolen a few weeks earlier in Potenza. The specialists of the Operational Unit of the Venosa Company intervened for the investigations, allowing the return of the vehicles to their legitimate owners. Investigations to identify those responsible for the theft are still ongoing.
