“Umbria is a great story”: the story and experience of seven authors in the green heart of Italy

AMELIA (Terni) – On the occasion of the Umbria Literary Biennial, the volume entitled “Umbria, it’s a great story” will be presented, set for May 24th at 10.30 am in the Pinacoteca room of the archaeological museum “E. Rosa” by Amelia. The book is the result of an innovative literary residency project curated by Angelo Mellone, artistic director of UmbriaLibri, organized with Sviluppumbria and presents the stories of seven authors who spent a few days between October and November in Umbria.

Some of the writers are Andrea Caterini, Annalisa De Simone, Andrea Di Consoli, Costanza DiQuattro, Carmen Pellegrino, Flavia Piccinni and Yari Selvetella and they had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture and tell it through their works. During their stay, the storytellers also participated in the “Writers in Schools” project, an initiative of the Umbria Region, UmbriaLibri and the Cepell – Center for Books and Reading of the Ministry of Culture. This project aimed to promote reading and writing among young people through workshops and meetings with students.
«Organize the writers? – explains Angelo Mellone, who will introduce the presentation – Worse than trying to believe in universal peace. We left their creativity free and the result is a volume that not only tells about Umbria, but transforms UmbriaLibri into a true creative laboratory.”
