On the occasion of “World Bee Day”, The Lions Club Velletri Host Colli Albaniin collaboration with various local entities, has organized an educational initiative within the marvelous Green Area of ​​Pubbli R, involving the students “Rosita Zarfati” primary school in Velletri. The event, called “The World of Bees That Save the World”, was sponsored by Castelli Romani Park.

In the morning, inside the green space wanted and created by Riccardo Colella, was dedicated to activities focused on the importance of bees for the ecosystem, through the hives positioned in the Green Area of ​​Pubbli R, in collaboration with Apicoltura Palustri. The pupils deepened their knowledge of these insects which are fundamental for biodiversity, thanks to interactive lessons and educational workshops. Afterwards, participants visited a local company where they could enjoy a honey snack and meet a beekeeper. The latter illustrated the characteristics of the hives installed and explained the honey production process.

The city councilors also took part in the meeting held in Velletri Andrea Bizzarri, Dario Di Luzio and Simona Zani, in addition to the well-known and appreciated cartoonist Veliterno Roberto Mangosiwho did not fail to embellish the morning with his wonderful creations, made right on the spot.

The initiative saw the collaboration ofUniversity Association of Forestry Students of the University of Tuscia in Viterbo. University students talked about biodiversity and the importance of bees during “World Bee Day”. Additionally, participants took part in activities promoting outdoor movement, in line with the event “GrottaCAMMINA”a project that supports psychophysical well-being through nature walks.

The “World Bee Day” it offered a unique opportunity to raise awareness and learn, involving young students and supporting the promotion of psychophysical well-being through outdoor activities. Thanks to the support and collaboration of numerous bodies and associations, the event contributed to spreading the importance of bees and biodiversity, underlining the value of the natural heritage of the Castelli Romani.

The role of the Castelli Romani Park

The Castelli Romani Park sponsored the event and actively participated. The Extraordinary Commissioner of the Institution, Ivan Boccaliunderlined the importance of spreading knowledge of the natural environment through comparison and presentation of projects. “Working with different stakeholders on common themes is one of the guidelines given to the Structure at the beginning of the year”, commented Boccali, expressing satisfaction with the growing interest in the work of the Park”.

The park rangers of the Castelli Romani Park met the students of the University of Tuscia for an educational walk in the protected area, explaining the peculiarities of the forest management of the Castelli Romani.

Emanuela Angelone, director of the Park Authority, explained how the day is part of the Park’s commitment to building an environmental culture. “Being available to talk about our work and support the discovery of the territory is part of our commitment to build together the environmental culture necessary for protection and correct use”, Angelone said.

On the occasion of “GrottaCAMMINA”, currently underway in Grottaferrata, the Park Authority presented the Transhumance Path and, next Saturday 25 May, will present the Natural Walk of the Parks. These itineraries allow you to discover the Castelli Romani, immersing yourself in the nature and history of the places.
