The message contained in the book

The book, which will be presented on Saturday May 25, 2024 at the Open Doors Festival, at 9.45 am in the garden of the Comics Center in via Palestro in Cremonacontains everything related to neurodivergence, thus opening a dialogue with the Happy News reading group.

“First of all we should talk about autism and not autism – explains the writer – because people with a diagnosis are completely different from each other. People with autism often perceive sensory stimuli in a peculiar way, with specific sensitivities to noise, light and smells. The experience of urban space is not necessarily the same as that of people neurotypicalbut not the same for all people on the autism spectrum.”

“The book wants to leave this message: it is possible to build very different ways of understanding and experiencing neurodivergence, beyond diagnoses and the most oppressive way of considering “normality”. – continues Albero Vanolo – The autistic city project has to do with the change in the cultural coordinates of the discourses on autism and with the idea of appropriating urban spaces to give life to different ways of being together.

We will also talk about mental health, with the presence of Emanuela Ghinaglia, Psychiatrist at the Psycho-Social Center of Cremona, e Stefania Mattioli Responsible at the ASST Communications and External Relations Structure in Cremona.
