Meetings with Kader Abdolah, Maaza Mengiste and Farian Sabahi

Tomorrow and Saturday, on the occasion of the Festival of Cultures, Ravenna will welcome internationally renowned guests who will be awarded the Intercultura city of Ravenna 2024 award. There are many initiatives planned, all free: it starts tomorrow at 10am at the Alighieri theater with the writer Kader Abdolah (in the photo, seats sold out). At 5.30pm in Piazza San Francesco, together with the diaspora associations, the opening of the mosaic flag, representing the nationalities present in Ravenna, is scheduled. At 6pm, in front of Dante’s tomb, Abdolah will read Canto XVII of Paradise. Finally, at 7pm at the Rasi theater the theatrical performance ‘If you put up a wall, think about what you leave out – Calvino’ (sold out).

On Saturday at 10am at the Alighieri theater there will be a meeting with Maaza Mengiste, author of ‘The Shadow King’, moderated by the journalist Vittorio Longhi. Event with mandatory registration on festivaldelleculture.info/maazamengiste.

At 5pm, at the Classense, the historian Farian Sabahi will present ‘We women of Tehran’. We will continue with the reading of Canto I of Purgatory by the writer Mengiste. The day will end at the Alighieri Theater with the concert “She, هي Elle, Lei: Voices of water and land, sounds of sea and sand” (sold out).
