Two fatal stab wounds, one in the chest (at heart level), the other in the throat. He died like that Armando Tortolanthe, the 42-year-old from Villa Latina who was attacked outside his house last Sunday. Luca Agostino, a 41-year-old accused of having slashed his fellow villager with a 20 centimeter knife due to family disagreements, ended up in prison on charges of murder. Yesterday morning there was an autopsy on the victim’s body, ordered by prosecutor Flavio Ricci of the Cassino prosecutor’s office, who coordinates the investigations of the Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Cassino comrades and colleagues of the Atina station who arrested, in the immediacy of the facts, the alleged perpetrator. In the early afternoon, the forensic medicine assessment carried out by the expert Gabriele Margiotta was completed, in which the party consultants, Renato Mattei for the civil party and Giuseppe Delli Colli for the defense, respectively appointed by the lawyers Michelangelo Montesano, participated. Cancellation to Marco Rossini, it was permission has been issued for the funeral which will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4pm in the parish church of Villa Latina.

THE MOVEMENT

The investigations are now continuing to crystallize, also through consultations and testimonies, what happened late on Sunday afternoon. The investigators believe that a burst of “pride” is at the basis of the “clarification” sought by Luca Agostino after he was told of words and looks at his sister-in-law in a bar in Val Comino. The rest is now known: the argument under the building where the victim lived, the knife and the trail of blood clearly visible even in the following hours in via Petitti, a stone’s throw from the Zampgna Museum.

MAYOR

In the meantime, the mayor Luciano Persichini and the municipal administration of Villa Latina reflect on what happened, confident that justice will take its course. They also express themselves publicly following numerous posts on social media, comments and village chatter which are multiplying hour by hour after the events that have occurred which have caused shock and emotion but also profound anxiety. «The entire community of Villa Latina found itself living a surreal life that no one could have ever imagined. We are all shocked by what happened. Our constant thoughts are aimed at our dear Armando and his family, without forgetting the other fragile figures involved. We know that it is a difficult time for everyone and it is equally difficult, if not impossible, to accept such cruelty,” they said. Therefore the invitation not to fuel feelings of hatred and to maintain a “peaceful and respectful behavior towards everyone”, especially with respect for Armando and his family. The mayor speaks of values «those that we all know and that some perhaps have never appreciated. Those healthy values on which Armando built his family and his life.” Equally meaningful are the words of a citizen right under the Municipality’s post who praises the institutions’ effort to avoid the worst or inappropriate reactions but also to protect the minors involved. «There is a red line in the human being, as well as in a community of people, an extreme and final border that can never be crossed, which is that of life. Whatever the motive or reasons, once that red line has been crossed, there is no going back, it cannot be fixed, it cannot be erased, and therefore I believe it is our duty to demand action so that such a tragedy can never be repeated again.”
