Important step forward for the railway connection that will connect the Olbia “Costa Smeralda” airport with the island’s network. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, the lead company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Italiane Group, has concluded the evaluation procedures for the executive design and implementation of the works – with a tender value of approximately 114 million euros – identifying Manelli as the best bidder Impresa SpA in collaboration with Europea 92 SpA and designer indicated the RTP made up of NET Engineering Srl (group leader and agent), ETS Srl (principal) Cooprogetti soc. coop. (principal), SIIP Srl (principal) and Francesco Morena (principal).

The intervention, submitted to the management of the Extraordinary Government Commissioner, involves the creation of a new route of approximately 3.4 kilometers which, starting from the Golfo Aranci – Macomer line, through the Olbia Terranova station, arrives at the “Costa Smeralda”, where a new two-track head station will be built.
The project also includes a connection to the line heading south, towards Chilivani/Macomer, via a railway line of approximately 1 kilometre.

The work as a whole includes infrastructural strengthening interventions and will guarantee greater accessibility to the railway system, promoting integration with other modes of transport.

The intervention, worth 231 million euros, is among the works included in the scope of the PNRR.

The current identification of the best bidder will be followed by the start of the executive planning, thus marking an important milestone in the development of the work, whose activation is expected by 2026.
