RAGUSA – The spending plan for the Ibla Law was approved in the city council. Among the interventions that will be carried out is the 800,000 euro one in via Monelli, the so-called “cemetery road” which, redeveloped and made safe with new lighting, new asphalt and new drains, will effectively become the third road artery for Ibla together with via Risorgimento and Corso Mazzini, which will thus be relieved at least in part of traffic volumes.

An intervention that is not only strategic for Ibla but also for that part of Via Roma which today is less exploited and which will be crossed by vehicular and tourist flows, stimulating trade and redevelopment. The principle of the single historic center will be applied in the numerous chapters envisaged by the spending plan, for example in the items for maintenance (400,000), urban decoration (200,000), signs (50,000), recovery of our artistic heritage, from the eighteenth-century Holy Ark of the cathedral of Saint John the Baptist on the paintings by Tommaso Pollace (25,000).

The spending plan also includes incentives, amounting to 150,000 euros, to support residential housing, on the model of interventions already carried out in many cities in the North and South to combat the desertification of historic neighbourhoods. The incentives will be governed by a specific regulation approved by the City Council, which will have two pillars: renovation of properties to be used as a main residence and a non-repayable contribution of 5,000 euros with the sole obligation to report its use and maintain residence and residence of the family unit in the property for a minimum period of 5 years.

Settlement of students enrolled in a degree course in the city and who move to the historic centre: concessionary contribution for the reduction of the rent up to a maximum of 1,500 euros, based on an ISEE certificate. A benefit that will give 3 results: making our university even more attractive for non-resident students, revitalizing the Centre, bringing to light the phenomenon of illegal renting. Finally, the portion of contributions reserved for economic activities, equal to 200,000 euros, was also maintained.
