The recent reform of the Ministry of Culture has increased the number of museums, archaeological parks and other state cultural sites with special autonomy from 44 to 60. Among these also some of the institutes which until now have been part of the Regional Directorate of Museums of Tuscany (now Directorate regional National Museums of Tuscany) and which are today new institutes of non-general management level.

Stefano Casciu, Regional director of the national museums of Tuscany welcomed on their first day of service Federica Bergamini, director of the Florentine villas and monumental residenceswhich include the Medici Villas of Petraia, Cerreto Guidi, Poggio a Caiano, the Garden of the Medici Villa of Castello, Villa Carducci Pandolfini and the Park of Villa il Ventaglio; Leonardo Bochicchio, director of the archaeological parks of Maremma (archaeological areas of Roselle, Vetulonia and Cosa); Massimo Dada, director of the National Museums of Pisa (Royal Palace, Museum of San Matteo and Museum of Ancient Ships in Pisa, and the monumental Certosa of Calci) Daniele Federico Maras, director of the National Archaeological Museum of Florence (with Villa Corsini in Castello).

The new directors will be able to count on the collaboration and support of the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Tuscany and its officials, in particular those who have held the role of director of those sites to date and who will maintain their organizational positions until the definition and reorganization of the staff of the new autonomous institutes, so as not to alter the ongoing activities, the organization of work and the management of staff in service, with a view to continuity of administrative action and its good performance.

Stefano Casciu thanked all his new colleagues and wished them a peaceful and fruitful job of planning and coordinating all the management activities of the new institutes, the organization of future exhibitions and installations and the development of the cultural projects of the individual museums, increasingly places vital and inclusive for the promotion and development of culture. Meanwhile, the initiatives already planned continue in all the museums involved. For example at Garden of the Medici Villa of Castello until June 30, 2024, every Saturday and Sunday at 10.30am, 12.30pm, 4pm and 6pm, always with free admission, the water games of the Animal Cave will be in action. The new edition of Enchanted Villas and Gardens starts from 5 June to 20 July 2024. The concerts of the Orchestra della Toscana in Medici villas et al Park of Villa il Ventaglio On Friday 31 May from 5pm to 6.30pm a new free entry event is scheduled with the “Green Thumb” project with the narrative box and the “A caterpillar in the villa” workshop dedicated to children from zero to six years old.
