Decisive meeting this morning at the Municipal Palace regarding the sewerage of the beach area, on the southern side of Marsala. The Mico-Impregemi Company, the works manager, the Rup and the tester were summoned by the Grillo Administration to define the actions aimed at making the sewerage network operational which, more than a year after the completion of the works, is not still in operation. Last June, in fact, the connection authorizations that residents had requested following a specific notice published by the Municipality had to be suspended. And this, in consideration of the fact that during the testing and taking over of the sewerage system, the presence of water was found in the pipeline. During the meeting, with municipal managers and technicians present – the councilor I. Gerardi was busy in the Prefecture, as delegated by the mayor, for the water emergency – the deputy mayor Giacomo Tumbarello highlighted as a priority the serious damage that is being caused to the city, and to the southern area in particular, due to the failure to activate the sewerage network. And he added: “Today we need to find an immediate solution and allow residents to have connections as soon as possible. We have asked several times for the definition of the issue which is purely technical and, to this end, each of the professionals involved today has the responsibility to find a solution meeting point”. During today’s meeting, the Grillo Administration wanted to listen to the parties involved, starting with the director of the works and the Mussomeli company itself, respectively represented by the engineer. Silvano Crosazzo and the surveyor. Giuseppe Mingoia. And an agreement was reached. The wells in which the presence of water infiltration was found will be subjected to video inspections with special instrumentation by the Mico-Impregemi company: the stretch of network affected is approximately one kilometre. But the even more important news is that the remaining sewer system can be subjected to the testing procedure, thus accelerating the functionality of the entire network which – if the timetable is respected – should come into operation by June, while at the same time allowing connections for residents in the beach area. south. The work, for an overall investment of just over 3 million and 500 thousand euros, is made up of sewer collectors that affect the SP 84 and Via Vecchia Mazara, as well as six lifting systems and a main pumping station located near the “Fortino” area. The system conveys the waste water collected from the network to the pumping station in the Casabianca district which, from here, flows into the purification plant in the San Silvestro district.
