Greek’s tower. «You were able, through your creations, to highlight the city, enhancing the tradition that has made our artisans and our engravers a point of reference throughout the world». These are the words with which the mayor Luigi Mennella welcomed the five students who participated in the “Donna Jewel for GemGenève” project held in Geneva in mid-2019 to Palazzo Baronale.
An event during which Annapia Liguoro was able to win the first prize. The mayor gave a solemn commendation to the 19-year-old student “for having represented the Francesco Degni institute, thanks to the collaboration with Assocoral, in the ‘Donna Jewel per GemGenève’ project. Passion, study and determination are the characteristics that have characterized her training, with the hope that she can achieve increasingly important goals.”
Commendation also goes to the other 4 young people (Mariarosaria Bencivenga, Gabriella Raiola, Alessandro Scognamiglio and Aurora Vernassi) who took part in the event with their creations. A phrase by Eleanor Roosevelt was chosen for them: «The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams». The five students also illustrated the motivations behind the individual jewels created and the techniques used for their manufacturing.
«We are proud of our children – underlined the school director Benedetta Rostan – who are giving us so much satisfaction. This is yet another demonstration of the excellent work that the teaching staff is doing.” The Assocoral leaders are on the same wavelength: «We are happy – the words of Vincenzo Aucella – to have participated in another important moment which saw our association and the institute which more than others contains the essence of our tradition”.
Finally, the mayor took the opportunity to reiterate the close synergy initiated with the artistic institute in Piazza Luigi Palomba which will have new life on the occasion of the next cultural events in the shadow of Vesuvius.
