The National Gold Championship took place in Terni last weekend with the participation of around 121 athletes in women’s swordsmanship, who qualified in the various regional competitions last month, Francesca Gentile of Virtus Scherma Asti got the better of Giulia Gabola of Ginnastica Victoria in the final with a score of 15-9. The victory allowed Francesca to obtain the right to participate in the Italian Championships in Cagliari 2024.
Francesca Gentile after the excellent group, with 6 wins out of 6, and 2nd place in the provisional ranking which allows her to rightfully overtake the first 2 direct teams. He began the live broadcasts by defeating Pasqua Carlotta of the Frascati Scherma club by 15 to 12, while in the subsequent live broadcasts he easily won against Tosi Alice of the Pro Patria of Busto Arsizio by 15 to 7 and Calvanese Alessandra of CS Salerno by 15 by 5. In the 8th round he won against Petrella Arianna by 15 to 13 while in the semi-finals he meets and comes from behind 15 to 12 Rosiello Giulia of Posillipo Napoli. In the final she wins the final match with the athlete from Turin and wins the National Gold Absolute Sword Championship.
Virtus is also present in the ranking of the National Gold Championship of men’s sword with Andrea Sgrinzi who in a very difficult group and despite 2 wins out of 6 in the group fails to qualify for the live broadcasts due to just one hit, ranking 171st in the national rankings.
