six licenses revoked for drunk driving

Intensified checks: six licenses withdrawn for drunk driving in Terni

The State Police continues to intensify checks to combat driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. On the night of Saturday 25 May, Terni Traffic Police officers carried out a check on 53 drivers. Of these, six men, aged between 30 and 50, were found driving while intoxicated with blood alcohol levels ranging from 0.50 g/l to over 1.50 g/l.

Five of the six drivers, whose blood alcohol level exceeded 0.8 g/l, were reported to the Judicial Authority. These checks, aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring road safety, were concentrated in the vicinity of nightclubs and in the areas of the city center of Terni, areas particularly frequented during the weekend.

In addition to the six licenses withdrawn, numerous fines were imposed under the Highway Code. The officers sanctioned several drivers for not wearing seat belts, for circulating in vehicles without regular periodic inspection and for using mobile phones while driving. These infringements not only violate the law, but put the safety of all road users at risk.

The traffic police’s control activity will not stop here. The monitoring and prevention services will continue throughout the summer, with the aim of reducing the number of accidents related to driving while impaired. Prevention and road safety remain a priority, especially during periods of the year when the increase in traffic and recreational activities can lead to a greater risk of dangerous driving behaviour.

The authorities invite all citizens to behave responsibly and respect the rules of the Highway Code, underlining the importance of avoiding driving after consuming alcohol. Road safety is a collective commitment that requires the collaboration and awareness of every single driver.
