Mayor Andrea Cassani also wore a helmet and climbed aboard an excavator, however the first “shovelful” of earth, in the meadow that will become home of the new single school of the Arnate-Madonna in Campagna districts.
An investment of over 5 million euros, from the Pnrr tender (which also provided funds for the reconstruction of the Somma schools, a construction site that has already started). The new school “will be intended for 225 pupils, for a surface area of 2162 square metres”. It will be the single center for all the two southern districts of the city, Madonna in Campagna, with a work of concentration of the school offer which was also pursued in the other major school project, the single center Cajello-Cascinetta, in that case located in central position with respect to the two neighborhoods on the northern outskirts of the city.
“After 50 years we will finally have a new school” said Mayor Cassani. In fact, the building will bring together the middle schools of the two neighborhoods, in the new building which is within the borders of Madonna in Campagna, but close to the more peripheral residential area of Arnate.
As mentioned, Arnate-Madonna in Campagna is one of the two poles. The other single building is the one planned in Cajello-Cascinetta, which is planned in via Curtatone. This last intervention is, among other things, contested by a petition started by the Gallarate Trees Committee, which criticizes the project from the social and environmental impact point of view, being built on fertile soil, instead of a suburban grove (it should be remembered that the resources derive from a regional tender with European funds, which evaluated the project as a whole).
These are not the only merger interventions on new “unified” structures built on fertile soil: in Carnago too the new single center for children is built on an area that used to be a football field, again with funds from tenders.
Also in Carnago the availability of funds was associated with the need to reduce the number of structures due to the demographic crisis which has reduced the number of children.
