Savona, “Festa in Sistina” with school children – Savonanews.it

This year too, the Cathedral and Sistine Chapel Museum Complex, together with the School Pastoral Service of the Diocese of Savona-Noli, is organizing the “Festa in Sistina”, an event dedicated to the institutes that participated in the “Christmas in the Cathedral” and in particular to the preparation of the side chapels during the Christmas period. A creative nativity display, with an intercultural and inclusive emphasis, full of energy and positivity, occupied the spaces made available in the Cathedral for the classes participating in the initiative for more than a month.

Fresh and sometimes strong-impact scenography allowed visitors, faithful and tourists to anonymously express their emotions with a themed invitation: birth, hope, peace. The extraordinary response of people passing by made it possible to collect more than 400 messages, from the simplest and most hasty to the most elaborate and profound.

In view of the end of the current school year, it is time to involve the main classes to experience together, on Wednesday 22 May from 10 to 11.30, a moment of joyful hospitality in the setting of the elegant Rovere chapel and in the spatial serenity of the Cloister Franciscan. A musical contribution will accompany the event and will be offered by the students and teachers of class 3A of the lower secondary school and the Santuario primary school of the Istituto Comprensivo Savona I “Don A. Gallo”.

The Cathedral Complex is completing a fruitful and intense school year full of visits with integrated museum activities. One of the predominant themes chosen by the teachers for the students was the bicentenary of the death of Pope Pius VII, with the visit to the Apartments of his imprisonment. The number of students encountered in general has increased significantly compared to last school year.

A particular increase in teaching activity also concerns the inclusion of PCTO students (Paths for Transversal Skills and Orientation) which saw around ten students from the Mazzini – Da Vinci Institute engaged with creative energy in creative graphic and animation in museum activities and to whom due recognition goes from the entire team working and taking care of the museum activity.
