The “Mettersi prova” project began in the Cuneo area. Acrobatics of coexistence between rules and lightness”, led by the Arci Cuneo Asti Committee and financed by the Cassa delle Ammende of the Piedmont Region. The objective is the creation of social and cultural animation initiatives aimed at inmates of the Cuneo district prison and the Fossano prison, people undergoing probation followed by the Uepe (External Criminal Enforcement Offices) and the USSM (Office of social service for minors), or even marginalized people at risk of criminal execution, intercepted by the Emmanuele Cooperative, the Cuneo Centro Neighborhood Committee and the Csv (Volunteering Service Centre).
At the basis of the project idea and the collaboration between numerous local, institutional and third sector bodies, there is the intention of wanting to contribute to developing the creative, artistic, linguistic and civic skills of young people and adults, cultivating positive relationships with the social reality that is experienced and inhabited on a daily basis. The proposed path is also a tool to facilitate knowledge of professions in the world of culture and provide opportunities for job placement. Bringing culture closer to the social world and the social to the world of culture.
The cultural actors involved are: the Panaté and Perla cooperatives which deal with the job placement of prisoners, Arci Bra, the Collettivo Zaratan, Ratatoj of Saluzzo and Cinema Vekkio of Corneliano d’Alba.
The planned actions consist of preparation and reflection workshops with active pedagogy methods on the world of live art and cultural festivals, but also artistic workshops of participatory video, rap music, contemporary circus and motivational mindfulness.
The beneficiaries of the “Mettersi prova” project will then be included and accompanied in concrete tasks during the artistic and cultural events, conceiving volunteering as an opportunity to cultivate social cohesion, to discover different areas of interest. There are three cultural festivals in the Province of Cuneo involved: Zoé in Città in its 5th edition and proposed by the Zaratan Collective and Circo Zoé in the period between July and August 2024; Expo Art.27 in Cuneo, in its 2nd edition in September 2024 and proposed by the Panaté cooperative and the Cuneo prison; the Festival of Lightness at the monastery of San Biagio in Mondovì scheduled for June 2025 proposed by Casa Do Menor and the Orfeo theater association.
The beneficiaries will get to know the world of artistic disciplines, cultural enjoyment and event organization up close, also approaching the entertainment professions which are a resource for job placement and professional growth for young people. Furthermore, Festivals can be places and opportunities for people actively involved to experiment within a framework defined with precise rules and sometimes the result of negotiations, as happens within every company (timetables, collaboration, shifts, tasks).
