«For me we could sign the Development and Cohesion Fund with Campania tomorrow morning or after June 30th. It’s not a problem of date, it’s a problem of substance.” She said it Raffaele Fitto, minister for European Affairs, the South, cohesion policies and the Pnrrin his stop at the Industrial Union of Naples, responding to the controversy with the governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca.
«As is known – said Fitto – an agreement is signed if all the issues have been resolved. In the meantime I like to underline that we have allocated 1.2 billion with the law and cohesion decree for the recovery of Bagnoli, this is a fact, after over 30 years, which is thanks to the government, to Prime Minister Meloni in particular who has strongly wanted this intervention. So it seems to me that things are proceeding in this direction and we will also address some even partial solutions using the methods provided for by the decree law, as was the case for this type of intervention”.
Responding to the question whether the FSC will be postponed again between the government and Campania after the verbal tensions between Meloni and De Luca, Fitto said: «I understand that there was a serious offense against the Prime Minister and a response that underlined the seriousness of this offense are different things.”
The minister also speaks of the government’s better relationship with the mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi, as demonstrated by the approval of the funds for Bagnoli: «I don’t make comparisons in the government’s relations with De Luca and Manfredi – he explained – I say that mayor Manfredi as far as I’m concerned, he has always had an institutional approach, and therefore we are working very well. I have had a fruitful and positive relationship with all the regional presidents, in one case there is a dispute not initiated by me, a series of accusations and controversies to which I have never responded and continue not to respond because my approach it is exclusively institutional.”
