TRIESTE – The State Police arrested a young Tunisian man, aged 19, for the crimes of robbery and receiving stolen goods, as well as investigating the young minor who accompanied him for the crime of robbery. Specifically, the officers, following several reports received at the single emergency number, regarding the presence of a person armed with a knife between Piazza Unità and Piazza della Borsa, managed to intercept the man in Via del Ponte: he was the author of a series of robberies committed with the use of a hammer and a knife between via Conti and piazza Hortis and piazza Unità during the night. In the first robbery, the victim – a 37-year-old Italian girl – was punched when she refused to hand over her handbag, while for the robberies that took place between Piazza Hortis and Piazza Unità, the robbers chased the robber and his accomplice until until the police operators intercepted them.
The young Tunisian, subjected to a personal search, was found in possession of an approximately 30 cm construction hammer, a switchblade knife, pepper spray and a large sum of cash. Everything was seized. The young Tunisian, after hearing the prosecutor on duty, was taken to the Coroneo prison while the minor was entrusted to a guardian from the Municipality of Trieste.
