The winter transfer market session Lecce was characterized by the search for a midfielder with offensive characteristics. The Giallorossi, at the time under the technical leadership of D’Aversa, were looking for a player who could add further quality, especially in the final meters of the pitch.

The research, however, did not have the desired effects. It was Santiago Pierotti the only player purchased in the January transfer market for a sum exceeding one million euros and further leads disappeared. Among these, there was the Dutch one.

Dani DeWit he is a valuable attacking midfielder with numerous goals in the Eredivisie and also successes in European competitions. Compared in style of play to Koopmeiners, clearly with different values, he was followed closely by Lecce last January.

Corvino and Trinchera sensed the coup since the contract that tied him to AZ was expiring and even found an agreement in principle with the Dutch club. The deal, however, fell through when the club that owned the card changed manager and decided to retain its star.

However, his stay lasted only 5 months. The contract was not renewed, as well DeWit in these hours he greeted the Dutch fans through an Instagram post:
