The 2024 edition of. ends in Acireale Schools in sport. Fun, sociability and healthy competition for a thousand students from Acea. The lower and upper secondary schools competed in team and individual sports at Largo Francesco Vecchio and Palavolcan.
On the programme – according to a press release – are table tennis, volleyball, basketball, five-a-side football and chess competitions, but also many collateral activities organized by associations and gyms in Acesi: fencing, archery, boxing, bowls, CalisthenicsKarate, Latin American Dance, Pilates, Latin Cross, Aikido and Crossfit Workouts.
One thousand students competing in two days
“We are really excited about this new edition of Schools in Sport – commented the Sports councilor Rosario Ranieri. In the end we can say that it was a great success with the enrollment of almost 1000 students. So a great participation from the schools. And we must thank all the sports associations and gyms that have been close to us with collateral activities, such as archery and bowls, demonstration activities, performances and choreographies. I also thank the guys from the Cambio Rotta association and the Civil Service, who gave us a great hand in organizing this event which in the end was a sports celebration for everyone, beyond the awards ceremonies and rankings. It is a new encouraging revival of the event conceived years ago by city councilor Lorenzo Leotta. It was a great success which makes us look forward to the next edition in 2025.”
A positive balance
“Yes is Schools in Sport 2024 is over and it’s time to take stock. Starting again after seven years was not easy. But thanks to the fundamental collaboration of the schools and a precious work team made up of professors Di Maria, Leonardi, Cannavò, the representatives of the companies Virtus Acireale, Correndo per Acireale, Acireale calcio a 5, Top five Acireale, and the world of association with the CSI and Cambio Rotta, I can say with certainty that this edition was a success”.
“Over 1000 members, 32 competing disciplines, 12 non-competing sports in which the kids tried their hand at having great fun. Numbers supported by the satisfaction of the participants, which make me happy and give me even more desire to do better in the next edition”. This is what the promoter of the initiative commented Lorenzo Leotta.
Schools and Sports is included in the program May with the Youth. The month organized by the City of Acireale, in collaboration with schools, sports and cultural associations, sports council, youth council and the Italian Sports Press Union. Maggio con i Giovani is supported by the Sicilian Region and is included in the Acireale E2024 programme.
