The Toro Club Sicilia Granata “Tonino Asta” presented the “Siciliano Granata – year 2023” award to Dr. Gian Carlo Caselli on Saturday 18 May. The award, now in its twelfth edition, was established in 2010 with the aim of rewarding Sicilian Granata excellence and, before Dr. Caselli, it was recognized to Antonino Asta, Davide Morello, Massimo Taibi, Alessandro Parisi, Antonio Barreca, Giuseppe Culicchia, Salvatore Sullo, Giuseppe Ferrauto, the historic fan Paolo Chillè “Uncle Paolo”, Alberto Gervasi and Antonio Sabato. Dr. Caselli was the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Palermo from January 1993, after the mafia massacres of Capaci and Via d’Amelio, until 1999, obtaining, together with the pool of magistrates directed by himself, very important results in the fight for Cosa Nostra. The Toro Club Sicilia Granata awards the prize with the following motivation: “thanks for the commitment made to redeem our land from mafia cancer”. Also present at the event was Antonino Asta who gave Dr. Caselli a crystal paperweight depicting the Club’s honorary member card.
