Modena, 18 May 2024 – “Follow your dreams, this is what I would like to say to those who decide to undertake a military career. There are only one hundred days left until we obtain our star, the first appointment as second lieutenant. This badge is the symbol of the values we hold , students of the Military Academy, we are custodians of the passing of the cue to the first year students, we symbolize the passing of these traditions.” There was great emotion yesterday at the Novi Sad in Modena for the traditional ‘Mak p 100’ ceremony of the Officer Cadets of the 204th ‘Volontà’ course of the Military Academy, an event which marks the hundred days remaining until promotion to the rank of Second lieutenant of the Army and the Carabinieri. The cadet Chief of the Regiment Francesco Fonticelli proudly showed the cue, which was then passed to the students of the 205th Fierezza course. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Army, General of the Army Corps Carmine Masiello, of the commander for training, specialization and doctrine of the Army, General of the Army Corps Carlo Lamanna, of the Commander of the ‘Military Academy, General of Division Davide Scalabrin as well as all the other civil and military authorities. General Masiello underlined the importance of the goal achieved by the students of the 204th ‘Volontà’ course: “I am sure that this is a moment of great emotion and satisfaction for you. We are experiencing a military revolution – continued General Masiello – and we are witnessing conflicts in which characteristics of the First World War and futuristic wars merge. We need to be equipped, alongside sophisticated tools and cutting-edge technologies, we need trained soldiers to use them Army General Staff – to accelerate this process of adaptation of the Armed Forces, but you will be the true interpreters and architects of the change”.
“You will be commanders only to the extent that you are able to convey to your collaborators the ideals in which they believe: in this way you will be able to obtain esteem and respect. Act with determination and courage; be proud of the path undertaken and humble in facing a life of growing responsibilities” he said , addressing the students, Commander Scalabrin. This year too, on the occasion of the gala evening of the “debutantes’ grand ball”, the Officer Cadets close to promotion to Second Lieutenant have decided to promote a charitable activity in favor of the Pediatrics hospital unit of the Modena Polyclinic which will allow donate, in the next few days, a new ultrasound machine useful for improving and implementing pediatric specialist skills.
