Considering the fact that the manager of the water service of the Municipality of Civitavecchia – ACEA Ato2 – on the basis of cross-analysis, has communicated that it has recorded, also for the current year, a situation of significant deficit in relation to the cumulative rainfall and consequently the related minimum flow rates expected from the managed supply sources, in order to guarantee the protection of the drinking water resource and taking into account the approaching summer period, the mayor of Civitavecchia has issued an Ordinance to avoid uses of the water supply other than drinking water.
Specifically, the Ordinance will be effective until 30 September 2024 and will concern the limitation of the use of water from the city water distribution network, which will be used solely for drinking purposes, for normal domestic and healthcare uses, or for all activities duly authorized businesses that require drinking water for human consumption, including public urban hygiene services; the ban on the use of water from the city water supply to fill private swimming pools; the permission, for the purposes of maintaining and decorating public green spaces, to use the water resource for watering areas of public interest. Therefore it is recommended to limit the use of drinking water to the minimum necessary for irrigating allotments and gardens, for recreational and sporting purposes including filling private swimming pools. And citizens are invited to resort, where possible, to alternative sources of water supply and to forms of reuse and reduction of consumption and to provide minimum watering at night.
