‘I expect an aggressive Taranto’

(By Tany Nardo) After having won the first round with Taranto at the Iacovone, Vicenza is preparing for the second chapter of the first national round of the Serie C playoffs. The red and white team will only need to draw or lose at Menti with a single goal difference to access the quarter-finals of the promotion play-offs.

Stefano Vecchi, Vicenza coach, spoke at the press conference in view of the return match against Taranto. “We meet a team that also showed in Taranto that it has characteristics such as intensity, aggressiveness, desire and spirit. They certainly won’t give us anything, they will try to play it out until the end. We start with the advantage, it’s true, but the same reasoning applies as in the match going forward, we are not a team capable of managing, we have to go out on the pitch to play our game, trying to get the match going straight away, maybe even scoring, then it’s obvious that it becomes more complicated for them.”

“Do we have three results in favor? We want to give our audience a nice evening and the next round. There is anticipation here in Vicenza for this match and I am convinced that the fans will carry us along by giving us a big hand. Taranto will have to be unbalanced, but they have always had an offensive predisposition because they have always played with three attackers. As I already said, if we manage to direct the match it becomes harder for them, if we leave it in the balance it will be a battle like the one against Iacovone.”
