An attack with a machete which occurred on the night of April 18 last year reduced a 30-year-old dying. They were two people arrested in Prato who are now in the Dogaia prison. The precautionary measure ordered by the investigating judge of the court at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Prato for attempted murder in conspiracy was carried out last Saturday by the Carabinieri.
The attack against the Moroccan man occurred around 1 am via Carradoriwhere a small group of at least five peopleprobably of North African origin, the investigators explain in a note, had tracked down one of their compatriots near a bar in the area.
After leaving the club, he was attacked with machete blows to the head and body, blows which caused him near-fatal injuries. The noises awakened several inhabitants of the area who, despite themselves, found themselves witnesses of a bloody event. The injured man, rescued, was transported to the Prato hospital and then transferred to Careggi where he underwent delicate treatment surgery that averted death.
THE carabinieri they collected many clues, also thanks to the surveillance cameras, which led to the precautionary request later endorsed by the judge for the preliminary investigations of the Prato court and confirmed during the preliminary hearing. The investigations are still continuing to search for the other members of the group and to verify connections with some less bloody events that occurred in the city in the medium term which could be connected to the affair, conclude the military.
According to what was explained by the military, the investigations «were particularly difficult right from the start given the lack of collaboration of the main protagonists of the affair who often also had criminal records». The investigators, it is further explained, «encountered a certain reticence to collaborate both in the people informed about the facts directly linked to the victim and in the few present on site, as patrons of a well-known ethnic venue in the historic center, where the victim was in the minutes preceding the attack.”
