ROVIGO – Fabio Bellettato, President of Italia Nostra section of Rovigo, asks the mayor Layla Marangoni for information on the possibility of establishing a biomethane plant in the territory of the Municipality of Taglio di Po. He also asks what the opinion expressed by the mayor himself is and by his council regarding this proposed plant that will be installed in the area. “It would be important for citizens to be informed about the benefits and harmful effects that this type of plant will produce in the Tagliola area” states Bellettato.
After the festive inauguration of the biomethane production plant in Ariano nel Polesine (READ ARTICLE), “with the approval of some associations including Legambiente and Coldiretti, and of the municipal administration led by the mayor Luisa Beltrame, but not of a large part of the citizens, because they are not directly involved in this project even if as inhabitants of the municipal territory they are the victims of polluting emissions, odors, traffic and various inconveniences without any benefit, FemoGas doubles down with the proposal of a new investment in Taglio di Po, its facilities for the production of biomethane, a handful of kilometers away with a plant always powered mainly to pollina” reports the president Bellettato of Italia Nostra.
“The territory – states Vanni Destro, coordinator of the network of committees and member of Italia Nostra – is a mine of chicken poop and the like due to the numerous intensive farms often managed as shown in the documentary film Food for profit by Giulia Innocenzi, without any respect for farmed animals, therefore the ideal basis for systems that do not produce significant quantities of energy, but solve the problem of disposing of livestock waste otherwise subject to the nitrates directive which obliges farmers to spread limited quantities of manure in the fields due to the high risk of pollution of the aquifers and bring substantial incentives from the PNRR into the accounts of those who manage the plants.
To the citizens, as we were saying, only damages and no involvement, not at a decision-making level, as would be necessary, but not even at an information level” Destro remarks.
Mayor Layla Marangoni during the public meeting on “biomethane done well” recently organized in Adria by Legambiente asked the technical speakers present to be available to meet the people of Tagliole to provide clarifications on the plant and Italia Nostra, critical of this type of plant, asked to be part of the meeting, gathering the mayor’s availability.
