The marshal received, in fact, a visit from the provincial commander of the Carabinieri of Taranto, Colonel Gaspare Giardelli, who, accompanied by Captain Francesca Romana Fiorentini, commander of the company and other soldiers of the headquarters as well as a representative of the National Association of Carabinieri, brought the best wishes of the general commander, Army Corps General Teo Luzi.
The career of Vincenzo Giovanni Paladini
Born in Surbo, in the province of Lecce, on 17 May 1924, married since 1961 to Mrs. Angela, father of 3 children and grandfather of four grandchildren, Paladini wore the uniform for the first time when he was just nineteen. After attending the Allievi Carabinieri school in Rome, he was sent to the province of Palermo, where he was engaged on the front line in the fight against banditry.
He was then transferred to Aosta. He remembers it as if it were today, in June, when there was snow. A great surprise for those who, accustomed to the Apulian and Sicilian seas, had never seen snow.
After attending the NCO School in Moncalieri, he spent a few years in Florence and then returned to his beloved Puglia in ’65, ending his career as commander of the Radiomobile Unit of Taranto twenty years later.
Marshal Paladini, who welcomed his colleagues dressed in the uniform that he has always worn with pride and pride, appeared excited and, clutching the gift sent to him by the Commander General, expressed a wish: to see, one day, his nephew Alessandro to become part of the Carabinieri family.
A day lived by everyone with joy and emotion, celebrating a man who, as a Carabiniere, went through the happy and sad events of a century of our history, dedicating much of his existence to the service of the community and the institutions, bearing witness to the values founding the Benemerita, a precious heritage to be passed on as an example to future generations.
